There's a "we" who have some big ideas - I know quite a few of them. But
the access companies who are selling "crippled Internet" -browser-only
access to one full-bore personal computer per home (cable companies and DSL
ISPs) are stifling the experimentation and roll-out of the applications,
devices, and services that might otherwise be deployed.

Because they want to "own" all high margin services, but are unwilling to
take risks on R&D and pilots that have market risk, the operators are
holding innovation hostage by blocking access for more risk-seeking
entrepreneurs. If they won't do the R&D or try entrepreneurial market
experiments, why should state and federal regulators continue to give them
special deals to lock out competitors?
