Hi all,
Back in early March there was discussion about how much network
latency online game players could tolerate. The question piqued
my interest, so I plotted histograms of observed ping times from
two quakeIII servers I've been running since mid February. Rather
than estimating based on human factors, I think the histograms
reveal players voting with their feet. Based on the distributions,
I believe 150ms is about the limit of tolerance - at least for
the specific interactive FPS of QuakeIII Arena. I've recently put
up some plots and background discussion at:

cheers,
