[e2e] cable modem symmetry

See the following article for a discussion on one aspect of cable modem 
capacity symmetry, and especially note that operators are moving towards 
more symmetric solutions, if the marketing is to be believed.  No comments 
about packet injection latency, though.  Perhaps someone on the list knows 
if upstream per-packet delay is dominated by the MAC layer?  And if it is 
particularly asymmetric in DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0?
