problems caused by network bit rot that could have been detected with
the UDP checksum, they were lost among the many corruption problems
caused by software and hardware bugs that could not have been detected
by the UDP checksum.   At that non-Sun vendor were we shipped with
UDP checksums on, we had plenty of hardware and software NFS data
corruption problems, and we prided ourselves on having significantly
fewer than the solar guys on the other side of the Mtn.View dump.
